The story
Most of my photographs start without much of a plan.
This was one of those mornings.
Snow was falling gently over the foothills near home, so I grabbed my camera and went out to see what I might find.
It was incredibly quiet. There was no traffic and no one else around. I could actually hear the snow as it fell and hit the ground.
I spent some time experimenting, trying to capture the movement of the falling snow rather than freezing it completely. At the time, I wasn’t sure I’d made anything particularly special. I was mostly just enjoying being out there and trying something different.
It wasn’t until I got home and started going through the photographs that this one stood out.
The grasses, the softness, and the movement of the snow captured the morning the way I remembered it.
Quiet, still, and completely unhurried.
